
Dennis Lowell Burt, age 75, entered into rest on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at his home in Belleville, Kansas. He was born on June 25, 1950, in Concordia, Kansas to Raymond and Berniece (Lewis) Burt.
Dennis grew up in the Norway community attending grade school in Norway. He was a 1968 graduate of Concordia High School. Dennis graduated from Cloud County Community College, Concordia, KS, Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Manhattan, KS and received his Master's in Business Administration Degree from Rockhurst University, Kansas City, MO.
Dennis served in the United States Army and Navy. He served from July 1973 through September 1993. He graduated from Naval Flight School, Army Air Borne School, Army Sniper School, Army Special Forces, Army Rangers School, and Navy Supply Corps School. During his service he received Silver Stars (3), Bronze Stars (4) a Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medals, National Defense Medals, Vietnam Service Medal, Iraq Service Medal, Kuwait Service Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, Expert Hand Grenade Medal and Naval Reserve Medal. He retired from military service with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Dennis was a farmer and cattleman in the local community for many years. His favorite hobby was taking care of his Black Charolais Cattle. He also loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of and helped contribute to, local 4-H, FFA, Kids Wrestling, ROTC, Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Wounded Warrior Project, and The Golden Bell Senior Citizens Center.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Berniece Burt, brothers, Kevin Burt, Daryl Burt, and his sister, Donna Sue Hodgins.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife Rosemary Burt, three sons, Chad Burt (Camille), Brent Burt (Teri), and Heath Burt, his brother, Marlin Burt (Genevieve), sister-in-law Kathy Burt (Daryl), and brother-in-law John Hodgins (Donna Sue) and nine grandchildren, Ashlyn, Bethany, Paxton, Chase, Caden, Braxton, Bristol Burt, Hudson and Maddox Briggs.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 1-8 pm with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
A Celebration of Life service will be held from 10:00 AM, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Hale officiating. The burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, South of Belleville and West on Queen Rd. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Navy.
