Freeze warnings have been issued for a number of counties in our area for early Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a freeze warning in effect from 2-8 a.m. Saturday for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Lincoln County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 are expected.

Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold, the weather service urged. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
