Deines becomes 3-time All-American at NAIA indoor nationals

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Kansas Wesleyan's Tabetha Deines (SR/Salina, Kan.) is a NAIA All-American – again. Deines earned her third All-America honor with an eighth place finish in the women's 1000m finals on Saturday at the NAIA Women's Indoor Track National Championships.

Deines finished eighth in the event's final with a time of 3:08.63. It came after qualifying fifth in the semifinals setting a new school record along the way with a time of 2:57.32.

Deines was one of four Kansas Wesleyan student-athletes at the NAIA National Championships.

Stephanie Martinez (SR/Horizon City, Texas) posted a 25th place finish in the 5000m run with a time of 18:46.78.

Eryk Kyser (SO/Caney, Kan.) placed 17th in the long jump with a best jump of 6.88m.

Kalil Murphy (FR/Hollywood, Fla.) nearly missed the final round of the triple jump. He finished 10th with a jump of 14.34m.

The National Championships were the final event of the indoor track season. The outdoor track season starts March 19 with the Wesleyan Relays, KWU's first regular season home track meet in over 30 years.
