MANHATTAN – With the K-State men’s and women’s basketball seasons tipping off this week with exhibition games, fans are reminded that Kimball Avenue between Denison Avenue and Manhattan Avenue east of Bramlage Coliseum is closed as the next phase of the North Campus Corridor project is underway.
Fans traveling to Bramlage Coliseum from the east side of Manhattan on Tuttle Creek Boulevard (US 24) will need to detour to Marlatt, approximately one-half mile north of Kimball. From there, fans can access the arena’s parking lots utilizing Denison, College or Browning avenues.
During postgame, fans leaving the east parking lot onto Kimball will be directed to turn either north or south on Denison. Traffic routed north will use the Marlatt detour to reach Tuttle Creek Boulevard (US 24).
This new phase of the North Campus Corridor is a $4 million project involving a total reconstruction of the roadway, storm drainage system and sidewalks and includes the demolition of the old cattle bridge over Kimball. It will improve traffic safety with the widening of the width of the street to include a raised center median between oncoming traffic along the curves of the roadway.
