City of Salina
The City of Salina, in partnership with local bicycle advocates and community supporters, will celebrate the installation of the city’s first public bike maintenance station with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Bill Burke Park.
The new station provides cyclists with free, publicly accessible tools and a bike repair stand to perform basic maintenance and repairs while out riding. The project was made possible through private donations and community support, reflecting a growing commitment to expanding active transportation options and supporting bicycle-friendly infrastructure in Salina.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held to officially recognize the installation and celebrate the partnerships that made the project possible. Community members, cyclists, and local leaders are invited to attend.
“This project is a great example of what can happen when local partners come together to support healthy, active transportation,” said Michelle Coats, Mobility Manager for North Central Kansas. “The bike maintenance station gives riders a practical resource that helps make biking more accessible and convenient for everyone.”
The station is designed to support both casual riders and regular cyclists by providing tools for common repairs such as tire inflation, seat adjustments, and minor mechanical fixes. It is located in a high-visibility area of Bill Burke Park to encourage use by residents and visitors alike.
The project reflects ongoing efforts in Salina to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities and support multimodal transportation options throughout the community.
