
Donald Joseph (DJ) Bremer, Jr, 41, of Council Grove, KS passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at home in Council Grove, KS. DJ was born January 2, 1979 in Colby, KS to Donald J (Joe) and Jolene M (Ribordy) Bremer.
He attended school at St Joseph School in Wichita, McEachran Elementary School in Topeka, and Council Grove Elementary. He graduated from Council Grove High School Class of 1997. Following high school he received an Associates Degree in Horticulture from Kaw Valley VoTech in Topeka, an Associates Degree in Education from Cowley County Jr College, and attended Emporia State University.
DJ worked many jobs in Council Grove before he and Amanda took over management of Dairy Queen. He thoroughly enjoyed greeting and visiting the customers, especially entertaining the kids that came in. He loved the outdoors especially mushroom season. He spent a lot of time hunting for deer sheds, arrowheads, and walking the trails with his daughter Laynee and dog Charlie. He also enjoyed taking friends and family hunting with him. He had a passion for music, and attended many concerts and his annual Walnut Valley Blue Grass Festival. He also enjoyed collecting drift wood, stacking rocks, traveling, and was a skilled handyman.
He was a past City Council member, St Rose Catholic Church member and soccer coach. He loved coaching Laynee and his grandson Brentley. He loved his family and attending their activities. He was proud of them all.
DJ was married to Amanda Bestor, March 17, 2007 at Grove Gardens, Council Grove, KS. To this union a daughter Laynee Joy was born. He also had a daughter Kelsey Jordan Bremer and a stepson Logan Litke.
He was preceded in death by his dad Joe Bremer, grandparents Don & Betty Bremer and Joe & Rita Ribordy, his aunt and uncle Judy and Kenny Russell.
DJ is survived by Amanda Bremer, daughters Kelsey Bremer, Lawrence, and Laynee Bremer, Council Grove, stepson, Logan Litke (Melissa), Council Grove, grandchildren Quincy Bremer, Brentley and AnnaBella Litke, mother Jolene Bremer, Council Grove, brothers, Shad Bremer (Kelcy), Council Grove, Derek Bremer (Taylor), Topeka, KS, sister Katarina Mundy (Tim), Owasso, OK, many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
A private family memorial will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Sawyer Chapel.
A Celebration of DJ’s Life will be held in the spring at the lake. Memorial contributions may be made to the children and grandchildren education fund. They made be payable to DJ Bremer Memorial Fund, and sent in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
