Myra Steel (Duthie) Grabon, 82 of Salina, passed away Wednesday, July 5th, 2023.
Myra was the first child of Robert Duthie and Ann Jamieson (Scouller) Duthie born on April 1st, 1941, in Forfar, Scotland. She grew up in the small community with her younger sister Katreena and brother Howard.
Myra attended local schools while growing up, and later studied to be, and became, a Registered Nurse in Scotland.
While working as a nurse in the hospital on a Naval base in Scotland, Myra met her future husband, George Grabon, who was stationed there. Myra eventually married George on June 26, 1971, in Dundee, Scotland. After getting married, Myra moved from Scotland, to Jamaica, Queens, New York City, with George, and soon began working at Mary Immaculate Hospital as a ward nurse.
On December, 9th, 1976, Myra gave birth to her only child, a son Andrew. She left full-time nursing to be a stay-at-home mother. She later became a traveling Hospice Nurse on Long Island when Andrew entered high school, working as such until she retired in the mid-2000's. In the early 2010's Myra and George moved to Kansas to be closer to their son and his family.
Myra enjoyed singing and listening to music, watching birds, looking at flowers, watching classic films, and reading. She was saved in her childhood and always stayed close to the Lord throughout her life. She had a close bond with her sister and brother, and enjoyed chatting with them over the phone when able, along with other friends and family in Scotland.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Ann, husband; George, as well as her younger brother; Howard.
Myra is survived by her son; Andrew and his wife Susan Grabon of Beloit, one grandson; Evan Grabon and her younger sister: Katreena of the United Kingdom.
Myra will be laid to rest alongside her husband George at the Veteran’s Cemetery at Fort Riley, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd, Manhattan, KS.
