CONCORDIA -- Cloud County Community College sophomore men's track and field athlete Caden Bach has been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Friends University Spring Open in Wichita on Saturday.
Competing in a 23-person field, Bach would run away from the competition by winning with a personal-best and meet-record throw of 66.29 meters (217 ft. - 6 in.) which would be nearly 10 meters better than the runner-up finisher. The mark is the best throw in the NJCAA this year as the Northern Valley, Kansas native has recorded a mark of no-worse than 55.69 meters (182 ft. - 8 in.) in any of the four meets he has competed in. So far this year, no other competitor in the NJCAA has eclipsed the 60-meter mark in the javelin with only four other athletes eclipsing Bach's lowest mark of 55.69 meters. The latest mark from Bach is currently 25 ft. - 1 in. better than Jesse Avina of Paradise Valley who ranks second in the javelin.
