KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball cruised to a sweep of the Avila Eagles in the Coyotes' final road trip of the 2025 regular season on Saturday.
Wesleyan came away with a 25-10, 25-19, 25-17 win over the Eagles at Mabee Fieldhouse.
The Coyotes dominated in the final stat sheet report, scoring 56 offensive points, compared to 29 for Avila, and had more than twice as many kills as the Eagles - 45-22 in the match.
KWU sped out to an 8-2 lead in the first set and never looked back. It was 13-9 Coyotes when KWU went on a 4-0 run to make it 17-9. After Avila scored a point, it was all KWU the rest of the way. KWU scored the final eight points of the set for a 25-10 win.
Avila had a 7-4 lead in the second set, but the Coyotes outscored the Eagles 7-2 over the next nine points to take an 11-9 lead. Avila grabbed the lead again at 13-11, but a 5-1 run from the Coyotes gave KWU a 17-15 lead. The Eagles came back and tied it at 18, but the Coyotes scored the next six, all on kills, to make it 24-18. Avila got a point before the Coyotes closed out the set with a 25-19 win.
The Eagles led 4-1 in the third, but again the Coyotes rallied with an 8-2 run that gave KWU a 9-6 lead. Avila got as close as 10-8, but got no closer as the lead extended to 16-9 on a service ace by Campbell Bohling. Avery Conner's block closed out the match.
Only two players - Blair Pennington and Tristyn Hedman - played all three sets of the match for the Coyotes, with most of the 17 players who played seeing two sets of action. Kylee Harris and Rylee Serpan had nine kills each to lead the Coyotes who hit .272 as a team. Blair Pennington and Sara Bebout had 14 assists each. Hedman had 21 digs.
