A power generator is to blame for a detached garage catching on fire at a rural Saline County home.
According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office on June 9 at 8:19 pm, deputies were sent to a home in northwest rural Saline County for the report of a residential fire.
Reportedly, the 52-year-old male homeowner had a power generator outside the property and was using power cords connected to his refrigerator and freezer.
Due to suspected rain that night, he moved the generator and placed it inside a detached garage to keep it operating.

Later on, a passerby was honking their vehicle horn to alert the homeowner about a fire that surfaced on the garage.
Rural Fire District #7 arrived on the scene.
The north end of the roof was burnt and damaged, as well as the generator.
Estimated total damage of the garage and generator was $2,600.
Lack of airflow was the reason the generator caught on fire.
