Linda Louise (Barz) Tobin, 73, of Salida, Colorado, passed away on December 23, 2022 at Brookdale Nursing Home in McPherson, Kansas. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 26, 1949, the only child of Anna Lucille Keller and Edmund Philip Barz, Jr.
Linda attended the Academy of Sacred Heart of Mary, Say Harbor, New York, later completing an associates of arts at Red Rocks Community College and a bachelor's of science in nursing at Regis University in Colorado, where she became a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Linda lived a life of selfless service, dedicated to the care and well being of the elderly and ailing. During her career, she served as a home health aide, hospice caregiver and nurse. She was recognized as a recipient of the Malta Cross and the Cross of a Servant of the Sick, for her service as a hospice caregiver. Most recently, she retired from the Salida Columbine Manor Care Center in Colorado, to care full-time for her ailing life partner, companion and beloved Eugene "Gene" Post.
While Linda recently was a resident of Brookdale Nursing Home in McPherson, Kansas, her true home was in the mountains of Colorado, Where she spent many hours exploring forgotten trails and taking in the beauty and majesty of the mountains. On any given day you could find her on horseback, four-wheeler, jeep or just hiking with her own two feet. Many of these days were spent with Gene, who also shared a passion for the great outdoors.
Linda is survived by her son Lenny Favara and his wife Deanna of McPherson, Kansas and her two grandchildren J.J. Favara and Joey Favara..
The immediate family will honor her passing in a private ceremony. The family suggest that memorials be made to the Rocky Mountain Mustang Refuge, 3260 E. Woodmen Road Suite 100, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80920.
