Kansas Wesleyan's Brianna Hernandez-Silva (JR/Las Vegas, Nev.) is the KCAC Co-Player of the Year. And the KCAC Offensive Player of the Year. Her selections to the pair of individual conference honors along headlines the group of 11 All-KCAC selections as announced by the conference office.
The Flag Football All-KCAC teams are selected by a vote of KCAC Flag Football coaches.
Hernandez-Silva was phenomenal for the Coyotes in her second season. She threw for 1,127 yards on the season and 20 touchdowns, against only seven interceptions. She also made an impact running the ball, rushing for 622 yards and eight touchdowns during conference play. She averaged 218.6 yards of total offense per game.
The two individual awards were not the only accolades received by Hernandez-Silva.
She was named to the All-KCAC First-team at quarterback, the second-team at defensive back, and honorable mention at Utility. Hernandez-Silva was second on the team in flag pulls during the season with 32. She also had a sack and four interceptions to go along with three pass break-ups during the eight game conference schedule.
Angel Roman (FR/Jacksonville, Fla.) also earned several All-KCAC honors. She was named to the All-KCAC first-team at wide receiver and at defensive back. She was a honorable mention selection at utility. The true freshman Roman who also plays basketball for the Coyotes, tied for the team lead with 25 receptions during the conference season for 266 yards and four touchdowns. She also had seven rushes for 37 yards. Defensively, Roman led the Coyotes with 38 flag pulls on the season, and had a team best six interceptions and added eight more pass breakups on the season.
Kendra Velasquez-Munro (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) was named to the All-KCAC first-team at running back, and earned honorable mention honors at two difference defensive positions at linebacker and rusher. She rushed 20 times for 153 yards and a touchdown during the season, and added nine catches for 38 yards and a score for the Coyotes on offense. Defensively, she was a standout player with 26 flag pulls, including 10 stops for loss and seven sacks and a pass break-up.
Lexi Marquez (FR/Henderson, Nev.) was named to the first-team on defense at the linebacker position. In seven conference games she had 23 flag pulls for the Coyote defense. Wesleyan's defense held conference teams to 17.3 points per game on the season and 237 yards per game.
Ja'Daa Wilson (FR/Crawfordville, Fla.) was named to the All-KCAC second-team at the wide receiver and defensive back positions. Wilson had eight receptions on the season, but four of them went for touchdowns. She also used her speed to break long plays as well averaging 25.8 yards per reception. She had 206 yards receiving on the season. Wilson was big on defense for the Coyotes as well. She had 27 flag pulls including a stop for loss and two interceptions and five pass breakups.
Kaylen Dawson (FR/Spring Hill, Kan.) was named to the second-team at the center position. She was responsible for getting the ball back to the quarterback with efficiency while also providing a first level of blocking against opposing defenses. She also had four receptions on the season for a total of 18 yards.
Alexandra Mansur (FR/Henderson, Nev.) was named to the second-team at the linebacker position. She had 32 flag pulls on the season and had two stops for losses, both sacks for the Coyotes. She also had an interception and four pass breakups.
Alexis Jimenez (FR/Riverview, Fla.) was named honorable mention at both screen blocker on offense and linebacker on defense. She was a big part of protecting the quarterback for the Coyote offense, and also had 10 rushes for 66 yards and a touchdown on the season to go along with eight receptions for 60 yards. Defensively, Jimenez had 14 flag pulls for the Coyotes and had an interception and three pass breakups.
Courtney Dinkel (FR/Greeley, Colo.) was named to the honorable mention team as a punt specialist. She had 12 punts on the season and averaged 28.5 yards per kick. She had a long of 60 yards and placed four kicks inside the 20.
Cui Waialae (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) was named to the honorable mention team as a receiver. Waialae was outstanding for the Coyotes at the receiver position, sharing the team lead with 25 receptions on the season for 280 yards and a team best eight touchdown catches. She averaged 35 yards receiving per game, and 11.2 yards per reception.
Marisa Rubino (SO/West Palm Beach, Fla.) was named to the honorable mention team as a receiver. She had 15 receptions for 142 yards with two touchdowns on the season. She also had four rushes for 36 yards on the season.
KWU is 7-6 overall on the season, and finished 6-2 in the KCAC, earning the No. 2 seed in the KCAC Invitational Tournament. KWU faces No. 3 seed Saint Mary on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Ottawa's AdventHealth Field. If the Coyotes are victorious, they will face the winner of the other semifinal game between Ottawa and either Cottey or Midland, at 5 p.m.
