Arleta B. (White) Carlton

Arleta B. (White) Carlton passed away on November 2, 2023, at the age of 94. She was born September 16, 1929, to Earl and Velma White, Glen Elder, Kansas.
After graduating from Glen Elder High School, having earned a teaching degree, she taught grades 1-8 in a one-room school house.
On August 8, 1948, she married Gerold D. Carlton in Glen Elder, Kansas. To this union, six children were born: Lavona, Lesa, Leila, Loeta, Lucille, and Roy Jon. At the time of Gerold’s passing, they had been married for 61 years.
Arleta loved horses and enjoyed trail and buggy rides. In addition to that, she enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling with her mother and sisters and working on genealogy. They always enjoyed telling the stories of their travels.
After living for a short period of time in Glen Elder and Formoso, Gerold and Arleta settled on the farm north of Jewell.
Arleta is preceded in death by her husband Gerold, two children, Lavona and Roy Jon, her parents, siblings Robert, Lois, Richard, Alice, and son-in-law Dale Wright.
She is survived by daughters Lesa (Jerry) Houston, Leila (Dennis) Becker, Loeta Bazo, and Lucille (Steve) Black, several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Kleppinger Funeral Home, Jewell, Kansas.
Funeral services will be on Monday, November 6, 2023, at the Jewell Christian Church with Pastor Dan Daniels officiating.
Burial will follow at Wallace Cemetery Jewell, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
