The Southeast of Saline Trojans picked up another win this week with a road split against the Sacred Heart Knights on Tuesday.

Following a win of 12-3 and a loss of 11-10, the SES is now 7-1 on the season, an excellent start to 2021.

After winning their first six games by mercy-rule, the Trojans picked up right where they left off against the rival Knights, scoring in each of the first six innings to take home a dominant 12-3 victory.

The top of the lineup kept the pressure on all game, as Jaxson Gebhardt, Bryant Banks, Evan Nickelson and Eli Harris went 6/15 with seven RBIs on the day.

SES also silenced the Knights lineup, allowing just three runs on four hits and striking out six.

Sacred Heart would get their revenge in game two however, as SES came up just short of a wild come from behind win.

The teams traded runs early, with the game tied at 3-3 heading into the third inning.

In the third and fourth, Sacred Heart sprinted out to a seven run lead, but SES refused to go away, tallying two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to keep things close.

Unfortunately the Knights picked up one insurance run in their half of the sixth inning which was all they needed to keep SES at bay as the Trojans fell in their first loss of the season 11-10.

Southeast of Saline will be back in action on Friday when the team travels to Chapman for a double header against the Fighting Irish.
