Monarchs add big bat from Angels' system

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Kansas City added some pop to its lineup on Thursday afternoon, as the club announced the signing of 1B/OF Ibandel Isabel.

The 26-year-old last played for Double-A Rocket City in the Angels’ system where he slashed .196/.287/.416 with 13 home runs and 28 RBIs.

Isabel has spent eight seasons in the minor leagues in the Dodgers, Reds, and Angels’ organization. Over 583 games, Isabel has smacked 126 home runs, 88 doubles, 16 triples, and drove in 383. The native of Yaguate, Dominican Republic, also has a career .838 OPS.

Isabel will be in the lineup on Thursday night vs. Cleburne. In a corresponding move, the club announced that RHP Jose Taveras has been moved to the disabled list.
