
Justin Scott Smith, 45, of Minneapolis, Kansas, died Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Salina Regional Health Center, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on December 2, 1979, in Guymon, Oklahoma, Justin was the beloved son of Morris and Debbie Hyman. He married Trisha (Shoemaker) Smith, on August 31, 2006. Together they raised four wonderful children — Keillon, Atlee, and twins Tait and Kemper — who were the absolute light of his world.Justin was the proud owner and operator of Justin Smith Concrete. He learned the trade from his father and uncles, carrying on a family legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and love of all things concrete. Justin took great pride in his work and was known for his attention to detail, dedication, and the heart he poured into every job.
Those who knew Justin will remember his heart of gold, his loyalty to family and friends, and the way he never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His easy smile, strength, and humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Justin’s life, like all lives, held both joy and struggle. He faced his challenges with determination and love for his family, and he will be remembered for the goodness at the core of who he was. His story is a reminder of how powerful God’s grace and forgiveness can be — and how deeply one person’s love can impact so many others.
He is survived by his wife, Trisha; their four children, Keillon, Atlee, Tait, and Kemper; his mother, Debbie Hyman; his siblings, Shawnta Lim and husband Dr. Jeff Lim of Guymon, Crystal Hyman, and Michael Hyman, all of Salina; his special “grandpa-in-law”, Glen Lott of Minneapolis; and his Uncle Jack and Aunt Dixie Beery of Garden City. He is also survived by many incredibly special extended family members and dear friends who loved him like family.
Justin was preceded in death by his father, Morris Hyman, his very special grandpa, Laverne “Popie” Gaylord and his grandma, Ida Gaylord.
A celebration of Justin’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Church, 845 Woodland Ave., Minneapolis, Kansas 67467. The family requests casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for Justin’s children and mailed to Citizens State Bank, P.O. Box 137, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
Justin’s legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
