Driver arrested after vehicle causes major damage to residence

A man was injured and was arrested after the vehicle he was driving struck a residence in southwest Salina late Monday afternoon.

Juan Galvan, 35, of Salina, was westbound in a 2003 Ford Escape shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday when the vehicle struck the curb and then struck a residence in the 800 block of Merrily Drive, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning.

The residence sustained major damage and the city building inspector was called to the scene, he noted. No one inside the residence was injured, Forrester added.

Galvan complained of head, neck, and back pain, and sustained bruising and abrasions about his face and arms due to airbag deployment, according to Forrester. Galvan was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center, he noted.

The Escape sustained major front-end damage and was towed from the scene, Forrester explained.

According to Forrester, Galvan was arrested on the following requested charges.

Improper driving on laned roadway

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol

Possession of marijuana

Possession of drug paraphernalia
