Salina firefighters responded to a house fire on Saturday morning in central Salina.
At approximately 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 Salina firefighters were called to the 600 block of W. Prescott Ave. after receiving a call from a motorist passing by a home with an active fire.
According to Salina Fire Battalion Chief Chris Stansberry, Salina Fire Engine One arrived on the scene within four minutes of receiving the dispatch.
The first arriving engine company started an exterior fire attack to reset the fire. The next arriving engine company worked to put out the flames on the interior of the home. The remaining fire crews performed a primary search and set ladders for second-floor egress.
"The fire was contained to the second floor, and the first floor suffered moderate water damage and minor smoke damage," Stansberry said.
Primary search was completed on the structure and was reported all clear. Stansberry said no people or firefighters were injured in this fire. The occupant of the home and his dogs were outside when firefighters arrived on scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the SFD prevention department.
