Two men from Salina who allegedly damaged property in the south part of town on Saturday afternoon are now in jail.

On Saturday, June 15, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Salina Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a residence in the 2800 block of South Ohio regarding a report of damage to property.

"Contact was made with the victim who stated that a former co-worker had come to his residence and began banging on his door," said SPD Cpt. James Feldman. "He was ringing his doorbell and yelling and screaming outside and then ended up breaking a front window on his [victim's] house."

Feldman said the damage to the window was valued at $2,200.

Based on information gained from the victim, SPD officers identified Nicholas Bryan, 46-year-old of Salina, as a possible suspect. Feldman said the 55-year-old victim and Bryan previously worked together in the past year.

When officers arrived at Bryan's address an unknown suspect, later identified as Jose Gonzalez, a 43-year-old from Salina, exited the back door of the residence.

"When we went to place him [Jose] in custody, he didn't like that," Feldman said. "When they tried to arrest him, he physically resisted and he was tased."

Bryan then presented himself to SPD officers and also resisted arrest.

"He also began threatening and shouting at officers and made a comment about getting a gun," Feldman said. "As he tried to go back into the home officers went in, detained him, and were able to get him handcuffed."

According to the SPD report Bryan had a cut to his hand where he had punched through the window located at 2800 South Ohio Street.

Bryan was transported to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of his injury. While at the hospital, Feldman said Bryan exhibited belligerent behavior, verbally assaulting the medical staff and security personnel.

Following his release from the hospital, Bryan was taken into custody and booked into jail.

Both suspects face multiple charges. Gonzalez has been charged with damage to property and obstruction, while Bryan faces charges of damage to property and criminal threat.
