Betty Jean (Becker) Carlson, 89, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at her home.
Betty was born on July 19, 1933, in McPherson County, KS, the youngest of four children born to Tobias B. and Ida (Koehn) Becker.
On July 26, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Robert Dean Carlson in Perham, MN. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Dennis, Steven, and Diane. Married for nearly 59 years, Bob preceded her in death on July 7, 2009.
Along with being a homemaker, she worked as a waitress at Starlite Restaurant, a cook for Hickory Manor Nursing Home, a sales clerk for McNichols Shoe Store, and a holiday gift wrapper at Morris & Sons Clothiers.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and former member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children Dennis (Sherill) Carlson of McPherson, KS and Diane (Terry) Rhea of Hollister, MO; daughter-in-law Lori Carlson of Manhattan, KS; nine grandchildren, Tracy Rhea, Laura Rhea, Rob Newberry, Kelly (Carlson) Nicola, Melissa Newberry, Tara Flores, Jeremy Schmidt, Matt Carlson, and Jami Carlson; 18 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steve Carlson; siblings Lincoln Becker, Allen Becker, and Rozella Chapman; a granddaughter, Amy Carlson; and a great-grandson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 17, at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
