A recently towed car prompted a moment of déjà vu for a local towing company employee.
An Auto House employee advised police that the company on Tuesday towed a 1999 Ford Mustang for the Saline County Sheriff's Office. The car had been located on North Cunningham Road, where it had been hidden and abandoned, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning.
According to Forrester, the Auto House employee realized the car had previously been on the company's lot at 565 Westport Boulevard from a prior case. After viewing surveillance video, Auto House personnel found that at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday, a subject is seen outside the fence around the lot. The subject enters the lot and then runs to the Mustang and the Mustang then drives back out through the fence, which had been cut, Forrester explained.
Damage to the fence was estimated at $1,500. The Mustang did not have any damage, Forrester noted.
The investigation continues, he added.
