Cheril Kay McCoy was born January 5th 1947 to Harold and Bertha (Boxum) Hofer. She passed away November 14th at Osborne Memorial Hospital.
She grew up on the family farm Northeast of Portis. She attended Union 4 country school and graduated Valedictorian of Portis High School class of 1964. On August 19th she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Terry (Butch) McCoy. The two built a life together and raised 5 children. Cheril worked as a secretary for the local optometrist, Dr. Duane Muck for 29 years; and Dr. Kim Cheney for 4 1/2 years. She loved seeing the familiar faces that passed through the office-she never met a stranger. Later on she worked part-time in the school lunchroom where she loved chatting with her coworkers, seeing the students, especially her granddaughters as they passed through the lunch line.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bertha Hofer, husband, Terry (Butch) McCoy, and sister Verena Hofer.
She is survived by her 5 children Julie, Janel (Steve), Jared (Karri), Jace (Mandy), Jaylon (Danielle); and her 6 grandchildren: Logan (Taylor), Briley (Lucas), Kaden, Marley, Lynnette and Isla. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
