Books Are Magic Day with Dan Dan The Magic Man is coming to the Salina Public Library.
Dan Heath and his wife are teachers, who for the past 20 years, have been spending their summers touring Kansas libraries bringing fun programs that emphasize the magic of books and reading for youngsters, according to information from Friends of the Salina Public Library.
Two shows are scheduled for Salina on Thursday: 10:15-11:15 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. in the Prescott Room of the Salina Public Library, 301 W. Elm Street.
There is no cost for this program, but registration is required. You may register in person, by calling the library at 785-825-4624, or online at salinapubliclibrary.org.
Additionally, the Friends of the Salina Public Library plan to have a used book sale in conjunction with the the magic shows. The book sale will be downstairs from 9:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.
The sale will include hundreds of selections of children’s and young adult books, audiobooks, movies, and games. Most will be priced from 25 cents to $1, according to the Friends of the Salina Public Library. The usual genre of adult fiction and nonfiction materials also will be available at bargain prices.
Customers who spend $10 at the book sale will receive a free gift: a choice of a Friends’ book tote or a Dan Dan the Magic Man magic wand, the Friends of the Salina Public Library noted.
