Schrag begins role as Central Kansas District Extension Agent

K-State Research and Extension Central District

Melissa Schrag began serving as the new Central Kansas District Family Resource Management Agent on September 30. The Central Kansas District serves the citizens of Ottawa and Saline Counties. Schrag’s primary office is in Salina.

Schrag earned her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Western Kentucky University. She has most recently been employed as an Adult Development and Aging Agent for K-State Research and Extension in Sedgwick County.

Family Resource Management agents develop and deliver educational programming to support financially successful families and communities. Programs may include, but are not limited to, financial planning; budgeting and record keeping; consumer credit; and taxpayer education. Shrag has an extensive background with SHICK (Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansans) as well as general health care navigation and veteran well-being.

Local extension faculty are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local extension board.
