NEW ORLEANS, La. - Strong performances from Cloud County cross country sophomores Habtamu Geta and Patricia Koma have led to United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association NJCAA Runner of the Week honors for the pair as released by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday.

Geta continued his strong start to the season by finishing as the top collegiate finisher this past weekend at the Tabor College Cottonwood Challenge by covering the 8K course in 25:02.90. Finishing only behind Cloud County alumnus and unattached runner Kwanele Mthembu, Geta has earned two wins and a race runner-up finish in his three races this year. It marks the third-straight week that Geta has earned Runner of the Week honors, earning KJCCC Runner of the Week each of the last two weeks prior to being named National Runner of the Week by the USTFCCCA.

Koma would earn a second-straight victory by winning the individual title at the Tabor College Cottonwood Challenge by nearly 14 seconds and completing the 5K race in a time of 19:32.60. After starting off the year with a runner-up finish at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic, Koma has now won the Ollie Isom Invitational and Cottonwood Challenge en route to becoming the first Cloud County women's cross country athlete to earn USTFCCCA NJCAA National Runner of the Week honors. The award is the second NJCAA Runner of the Week honors that Koma has earned this year as she also was named Runner of the Week by the NJCAA back on Sept. 23.
