Jean Elaine Stephens, 85, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Guymon, OK, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2022, with her family by her side at The Cedars, McPherson.
She was a homemaker, and also, along with her husband, owned and operated Owens Steamway Carpet Cleaning for 26 years.
Jean was born on April 28, 1937, in Grants Pass, OR, the daughter of Harry Russell and Emily Katherine (Shorb) Brown.
She graduated as valedictorian from Hardesty High School in Hardesty, OK. She attended Oklahoma University School of Nursing.
On October 25, 1956, Jean was united in marriage to Owen Clouse Stephens in Oklahoma City, OK. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2014.
She is survived by her two daughters, Catheryn “Cathy” McEachern of McPherson, KS and Linda Shoemaker of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter-in-law Janis Murphy of Sylvia, KS; sister-in-law Lamanda Hammonds of Temple, TX; brothers-in-law Tom Stephens (Phyllis) of Hardesty, OK and Melvin Stephens (Lou Ella) of Plainview, TX; eight grandchildren, Cory Pearson (Traci), Chris Pearson, Asher McEachern-Stains (Cassidy), Denise Spallo (Phil), Curtis Belvin, Nichole Myers (Adam), Jamie Crane (Kerry), and Dana Sandoval (Carlos); 17 great-grandchildren, Katie, Sophia, and Vinnie Spallo, Zachary, Christian, Grace and Gabrial Pearson, Andrew, Lantz and Rylan Myers, Hunter, Jordan and Jadyn Liese, Mia Delly, Gauge, Mika and Claira Belvin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law Clouse and Flora Stephens; son,Don Allen Stephens; sons-in-law Donnie Shoemaker and Joe McEachern; brothers Dewayne and Bill Brown; and grandson Joey McEachern.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson, with Pastor Dan Cate officiating. A visitation/viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time, Sunday, January 8, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, OK.
