Coyote women's tennis falls to Bethel

NORTH NEWTON – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis dropped a 4-3 decision to the Bethel Threshers on Thursday at the Ward Tennis Center.

Bethel won two of the three doubles matches to take the all-important doubles point. Wesleyan got one win at the No. 1 position as Karley Benson (SR/Salina, Kan.) and Makenzie Archer (JR/McPherson, Kan.) teamed up to beat Halle Krehbiel and Nalea Payton 6-4. Bethel would get wins at No. 2 as Jenna Mahoney and Karik Elliott beat Michaela Crowe (SO/Overland Park, Kan.) and Eliza Camp (FR/Winfield, Kan.) 7-5; and at No. 3 as Fatima Nemi and Julia Sherman beat Avery Soto (FR/Pueblo, Colo.) and Kaitlyn Wrye (FR/Olathe, Kan.) 6-3.

In singles, both teams won three matches. KWU got wins at No. 1 as Crowe beat Krehbiel 6-4, 6-1; at No. 5 as Soto beat Sherman 6-3, 6-3; and at No. 6 as Wrye beat Elliott 6-4, 6-0. Bethel got wins at No. 2 as Nemi beat Benson 6-4, 6-2; at No. 3 as Payton beat Archer 6-2, 2-6, 6-3; and at No. 4 as Mahoney beat Camp 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

The Coyotes are back in action on Saturday, taking on McPherson at 11 a.m. at the Bulldog Tennis Center in McPherson.
