UPDATE: NWS cancels winter weather advisories for some

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has dropped a number of counties in our area from the winter weather advisories.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Topeka has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from midnight to noon Sunday for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Cloud County

Republic County

Freezing drizzle is expected. Total ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch north of Interstate 70 (I-70). Areas along and south of I-70 should see a light glaze up to a few hundredths of an inch of ice. Some light snow may mix in with the freezing drizzle along the Nebraska border. Snow accumulations should be around a dusting.

Plan on slippery road conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

NWS in Hastings, Neb., has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from midnight to 11 a.m. Sunday for the following counties in our area.

Jewell County

Mitchell County

Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch are forecast. Locally higher snowfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible within a snow band. Northwest wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph may lead to areas of blowing snow.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
