Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Quotes

November 24, 2023

OPENING STATEMENT: “As far as injuries go, (Jerick) McKinnon will be listed as out with a groin strain, and then Mecole (Hardman) with a thumb strain will also be listed as out. (We) look forward to the challenge of playing the Raiders, good football team. They’re playing very hard right now and aggressive, and they’re doing a nice job. Our guys have had a good week of practice and look forward to that challenge. With that, time’s yours.”

Q: Will Richie James be available for Sunday’s game?

REID: “I mean he was up last Monday. We activated him last week, so there’s a chance he’s up, yeah.”

Q: Would a guy like Deneric Prince most likely fill in with the two running backs out?

REID: “We’ll see, yeah. I’m not sure what we’re going to do right there.”

Q: Do you think the Raiders players are playing harder for Interim Head Coach Antonio Pierce?

REID: “Listen, they’ve been playing hard. I mean they’re an aggressive bunch, and I don’t want to slight anybody but they’re playing good football right now on both sides of the ball. (Interim Head Coach Antonio) Pierce, he’s a sharp guy, so I told you before, had a lot of opportunities to play against him, coach against him, when he was a player and he was the ringleader of that group, he kept everything together there. I thought he’d be a great coach and he’s sure on his way to do that.”

Q: What have you seen with Raiders CB Marcus Peters?

REID: “(Raiders CB) Marcus (Peters) is doing a good job. Marcus has always been a good player. We know that. He’s still playing at a high level.”

Q: Any sense if Mecole Hardman’s injury will keep him out longer than just this week?

REID: “There’s a chance. We’re just getting it double checked here. There’s a chance.”

CB L’JARIUS SNEED

Q: Has it been easier for you to focus on your role playing mostly outside this year instead of moving inside and out like you have in previous years?

SNEED: “I wouldn’t say it’s been easier because I’ve been placed on the number one wide receiver on the (opposing) team week by week, that’s not an easy task.”

Q: What has allowed you to succeed covering teams number one receivers?

SNEED: “I would say coaching. (Chiefs Defensive Coordinator Steve) Spags, he believes in me, and I believe in him. They believe in me.”

Q: How were you able to do so well on Eagles WR A.J. Brown and get the interception in Monday’s game?

SNEED: “I would say the guys up front. The guys up front got in (Eagles QB) Jalen’s (Hurts) face, and they help us on the back end.”

Q: You played safety in college, how has the experience of playing both positions helped you?

SNEED: “In this system I’ve played slot, on the outside, so I already had the versatility and I was comfortable with going to the inside because I played safety in college. Coming in I wasn’t nervous (Chiefs Defensive Coordinator Steve) Spags said, ‘I’m just going to throw you in.’ And they threw me in.”
