Kansas Wesleyan's offense got the job done, the defense was solid and the pitching was outstanding for the Coyotes on Saturday against Southwestern College Moundbuilders at Salina South High School.

The end result was a Coyote sweep of the Moundbuilders 8-0 and 5-0.

In the opener, KWU pitcher Bella Allen held Southwestern to just three hits in the game, meanwhile the Coyote offense had 11 hits and ended the game early in the bottom of the sixth.

Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the first as Brooklyn Lange led off the inning with a double and then scored on Elli Han's single.

The Coyotes pushed the lead out to 4-0 in the third. The Coyotes loaded the bases to start the inning on a walk to Becca Kennon and then hits by Lange and Han. Two batters later Keira Hammen doubled to center field to bring in all three runs.

Hammen brought in another run in the fifth with a single after the Coyotes had loaded the bases and Madison Geer drove in a run with a single to make it 6-0.

The Coyotes ended the game in the sixth using a 2-out rally. Kennon walked, Lange singled and a double steal would plate the first run of the inning. Lange then went to third on an error and then Han would reach on an error to end the game when the first baseman pulled her foot off the bag before receiving the ball allowing the game-ending run to score.

The top of the KWU lineup was excellent for the Coyotes going a combined 10 of 14 with five RBI. Lange led the Coyotes with four hits. Allen went the distance for the win with two strikeouts.

Freshman pitcher Addie Herrera was stellar for the Coyotes in the second game. She held the Moundbuilders to one hit in the game and took a no-hitter two outs into the fifth inning as the Coyotes won 5-0.

Lange drove in two runs for the Coyotes in the bottom of the second inning to put KWU up 2-0.

Hammen led off the third with a double and pinch runner Graycen Partlow would score when MacKenzie Vela reached on a single, but an errant throw on the play would allow Partlow to score.

The Coyotes added two more in the fifth. Vela singled and went to second on an error then scored on Geer's double. Pinch hitter Cadence Mallet then singled down the line in right but a 2-base error by the Southwestern right fielder would allow the run to score.

Four players had two hits in the game for the Coyotes who had 14 as a team. Herrera struck out eight for the Coyotes in the circle.
