The meeting
The regular weekly meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash Street. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider two items related to the new jail. The project is ready to move from the design development phase, and commissioners are being asked to approve the design and authorize the preparation of bid documents and the first guaranteed maximum price contract.
Additionally, commissioners are being asked to authorize offering for sale the general obligation sales tax bonds to pay for the construction of the new jail.
Other items on the county agenda for Tuesday include the following.
●Consider authorizing the commission chair to sign letters to the county clerk regarding revenue neutral rate hearings, set the date of Aug. 24 for the final 2022 budget hearings, and authorize staff to publish notices of the public hearings.
●Hear a COVID-19 update from Jason Tiller, health department director.
●Consider a disaster declaration extension requested by Michelle Barkley, emergency management director.
●Hear an emergency management update.
●Hear a review of pre-trial stats from Andrew Pellant, pre-trial program coordinator.
●Hear about a potential Rural Housing Incentive District agreement from County Administrator Phillip Smith-Hanes.
