Twenty hay bales and a hay trailer were destroyed in a Wednesday morning fire in Saline County.
Deputies and firefighters from Rural Fire Districts No. 3 and 7 were sent to the 4,000 block of W. Pleasant Hill Road at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday for the report of a hay trailer on fire.
"The semi-tractor trailer with 20 large round hay bales on top went underneath a metal gated archway," Soldan said. "The bales pushed the archway up into the powerlines above it and started the fire on the back of the truck."
All 20 hay bales were destroyed amounting to a loss of $2,000. The truck pulling the trailer, a grey 95 Freightliner, was also destroyed beyond repair with a total of $20,000 in damage.
A 72-year-old male from Tescott was driving the truck and trailer.
There were no injuries related to the accident.
