KWU women's golf cruises to win in Evangel Spring Invitational

NIXA, Mo. – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Golf picked up right where it left off in the fall semester, as the Coyotes cruised to a victory in the Evangel Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Freemont Hills.

The win is the sixth consecutive tournament win for the Coyotes, a streak dating back to last September.

Wesleyan led wire-to-wire in the tournament, paced by Hannah Hart (FR/Ventura, Calif.) who finished second in the tournament with a 172, carding a pair of 86's.

Aidan Richmond (FR/Keller, Texas) tied for fourth with a 178 (93-85); and Mikaela Johnson (SR/Salina, Kan.) (93-89) and Kristen Sayyalinh (SO/Rockford, Ill.) (91-91) tied for sixth to round out the team scorers for the Coyotes. Thalia Ramirez (FR/Leawood, Kan.) placed 11th playing as an individual with a 191 (97-94).

Wesleyan finished with a team score of 709 (358-351) to win by 76 shots over College of the Ozarks. The Bobcats shot 785. Central Methodist was third with an 801, Evangel was fourth with 806, Dordt was fifth with 850 and Tabor was sixth with 935.

Central Methodist's Cassandra Contreras was the tournament individual champion with a 166.

KWU now prepares for the First Leg of the KCAC Championships on March 22 and 23 at Battle Creek in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. KWU's Spring Invitational is March 29 and 30 at the Salina Country Club.
