KWU men's volleyball falls to No. 6 Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Kansas Wesleyan men's volleyball team faced No. 6 ranked Jamestown in its final GPAC road match of the inaugural season. The Jimmies would win in straight sets 25-13, 25-10, 25-16.

Wesleyan trailed 5-3 in the first set but an 8-1 run by Jamestown made it 13-4. The Coyotes could not get closer than seven points in the set before falling 25-13.

The Coyotes fell behind 6-1 to start the second set and couldn't bounce back.

In the third set, the Coyotes led 1-0 and then again at 7-6 after a pair of hitting errors by Jamestown. The Jimmies would retake the lead 10-7, and the Coyotes were within a point at 10-9 on a block from Viet Nguyen (FR/Wichita, Kan.), when UJ took a 14-9 lead in the set.

Wesleyan bounced back getting within three at 16-13 on a block by Angel Diaz (FR/Waukegan, Ill.) and Frank Kassem (FR/Miami, Fla.), but Jamestown was able to hold onto its lead. KWU trailed 21-16 when Jamestown scored the final four points of the set to win 25-16.

Christopher Perez (FR/Denver, Colo.) had four kills and six digs to lead the Coyotes. Kassem had four blocks, three solo, for the Coyotes.

KWU returns home Wednesday for the first time since Jan. 20 to play Central Christian at 7 p.m. inside Mabee Arena.
