
Raymond “Ray” Glen Brady, 82, of La Grande, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A memorial service will be held later this year in Kansas.
Ray was born on December 26, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas to Ralph and Irene (Nelson) Brady. He resided in Wichita, KS; Simsbury, CT; Steuben, ME; Brookville, KS and La Grande, OR.
He attended South High School, Wichita, KS; Wichita State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute earning a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering Science. He married his high school sweetheart, Janis Jo Shumate, in 1963.
Ray was employed with Boeing and Pratt & Whitney. In his younger years, he earned the Eagle Scout award. He enjoyed genealogy, model railroading, travel, and home improvement projects. He was a member of the Methodist Church and served in many church leadership roles. He was also an avid member of the National Model Railroad Association, building layouts and holding several regional offices.
Ray is survived by his daughters, Susan Brady of La Grande, OR and Kathryn Brady of Audubon, NJ; and two grandchildren, Emma Cain and Greta Rizzio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janis Brady, and parents, Ralph and Irene Brady.
