Southeast uses big second quarter to put away Beloit in Trojan War

Regardless of the records, the Trojan War between Southeast of Saline and Beloit game is one of the season's most anticipated games. 

Southeast had won the last six meetings in this rivalry, and after last night, you can make it seven in a row for the purple Trojans, as they handed Beloit their first loss of the season by a score of 32-6.

After an early drive came to a halt on the Southeast 9-yard line in the, Beloit broke the scoreless tie on a 72-yard run by Joel Rexroat to go up 6-0. 

Southeast answered back by reeling off 24 straight points in a matter of 3 minutes and 24 seconds. 

It started with a 5-yard pass from Gannon Jacobson to Evan Watkins that put Southeast up 8-6. 

Following a pooched kickoff recovery, Jacobson and Tucker Thaxton connected for two more Southeast touchdowns before halftime.

The first of those scores came from 30 yards out and second one, from the 10-yard line, was set up by a Kanyon Douglas interception. 

Amarion Holub added an insurance score for Southeast on a 23-yard scamper to make the score 32-6 late.

Jacobson led the Southeast offense completing 13 of 18 passes for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns and rushing for 51 yards on 11 carries. 

Thaxton led all receivers with 65 yards and 2 touchdowns on 4 catches. 

Rexroat led the Beloit rushers with 199 yards on 24 carries.

Southeast, now 3-0, will travel to Kingman next week, while Beloit drops to 2-1 and will travel to Phillipsburg.
