KWU flag football lands 8 on inaugural All-KCAC team

Kansas Wesleyan flag football had eight student-athletes earn spots, some in multiple positions, on the inaugural Flag Football All-KCAC teams selected by conference coaches and announced by the conference office.

Marisa Rubino (FR/West Palm Beach, Fla.), Ja'Daa Wilson (FR/Crawfordville, Fla.), Brianna Hernandez-Silva (JR/Las Vegas, Nev.), Reagan Martin (FR/San Manuel, Ariz.), Ghariana Green (FR/Dunedin, Fla.), Sabrina Saldate (JR/Las Vegas, Nev.), Carlee Becker (SR/Henderson, Nev.) and Meganne Morrand (JR/Manhattan, Kan.) all earned spots on the All-KCAC teams.

Rubino was named to the first-team at receiver. Through nine games this season, she had 39 receptions for 488 yards and a team best eight touchdowns. She holds the distinction of scoring the first touchdown in program history on February 28 against Ottawa.

Wilson was named to the first-team at defensive back and to the second-team at receiver. She has five interceptions on the season, returning three of them for touchdowns. She also has 29 flag pulls on the season. She has 29 receptions for 457 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.

Hernandez-Silva was named to the first-team as a utility player, to the second-team at running back and linebacker and honorable mention at receiver. She leads the Coyotes with 43 receptions for 440 yards and had three touchdown catches. She also has 56 rushes for 435 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 48.3 yards per game. She also plays quarterback for the Coyotes, going 24 of 50 passing for 227 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, she leads the Coyotes with 57 flag pulls and has four sacks and three interceptions.

Martin was named to the second-team at the blocker position. She was responsible for blocking for the quarterback and helped the Coyotes average 245.8 yards per game of total offense.

Green was named to the second-team at linebacker. She has 30 tackles on the season for the Coyotes, and has one interception on the season.

Saldate was named to the second-team at defensive back and honorable mention at quarterback. She has 18 flag pulls on the season, but leads the Coyotes with nine interceptions returning one for a touchdown. She has completed 48 percent of her passes (131 of 271) for 1511 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 167.9 passing yards per game.

Becker was named honorable mention at receiver, as she has 13 receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. She also was named to the honorable mention team at rusher, with 28 flag pulls and 1.5 sacks on the season.

Morrand was named honorable mention at center. She helped the KWU offense average 245. 8 yards of total offense on the season. She also had 12 flag pulls on defense and has two receptions for 16 yards and a touchdown.

KWU is 3-6 in its inaugural season and plays Midland on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Graves Family Sports Complex. KWU then will participate at the NAIA Invitational in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium next weekend.
