"Exploring Pollinators" is the theme of this year's Insect Art Contest.
Sponsored by K-State Research and Extension's Integrated Pest Management & Pesticide Safety Education, the contest is open to Kansas 4-Hers and art students from kindergarten through high school. Entries can be submitted until April 16, 2021.
"The insect art contest provides an avenue to learn about insects and pollinators, while expressing the youth's creativity," Frannie Miller, K-State pesticide safety and IPM coordinator, told Salina Post.
The goal is to explore what pollinators do and why they are important and create an art piece that captures that information. This year’s winning insect masterpieces will help promote pollinator week June 21-27.
