Coyote men's golf finishes sixth in Las Vegas Shootout

The Kansas Wesleyan Men's Golf team posted a sixth-place finish in the Las Vegas Shootout in the team's first tournament of the spring on Monday and Tuesday at Boulder Creek.

The Coyotes posted a final score of 966 for the three-round tournament, posting round scores of 317, 332 and 317. KWU was four shots better than Providence Christian in the final standings out of the 15 competing teams.

Landon Berquist (SO/Lawrence, Kan.) paced the Coyotes in the tournament, finishing tied for 21st with a score of 241. Trevor Oberg (JR/McCook, Neb.) was 25th with a final score of 242, Trevor Watson (SO/Coffeyville, Kan.) tied for 26th with a score of 243, Tyler Tarvin (FR/North Richland Hills, Texas) tied for 41st with a 248 and Ethan Vikander (SO/Aberdeen, S.D.) was 50th with a 253. Matthew Freriks (JR/Stinnett, Texas) played as an individual and tied for 34th with a 246.

Oklahoma City was the team champion, winning by 12 shots over Benedictine-Mesa. OCU finished with a score of 922.

Weatherford College's Samuel Benson was the individual champion with a score of 225, one shot better than Will Fore of Oklahoma City and Zack Holesinger of Benedictine-Mesa.

The Coyotes are back in action on March 14 and 15 at the CBC Spring Invitational at the Country Club of Arkansas.
