Registration is now being accepted for a Zoom estate planning seminar later this week.
Estate Planning Basics: A Recipe to Avoid Disaster is the next Answers for Older Kansans Seminar. The Zoom event that features elder law attorney Paul Shipp happens at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Registration must be made by noon on Thursday. Register at http://www.ncfhaaa.com/seminars or call 1-800-432-2703. Log in instructions will be sent to those who register by the deadline.
The presentation is part of The Answers for Older Kansans series of seminars organized by the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging (NC-FH AAA). The goal is to provide trustworthy and easy-to-understand information to older Kansans, people living with disabilities and caregivers.
“ A good end of life plan is no different than a good recipe,” said Shipp, managing attorney with Kansas Legal Services in Manhattan. “This seminar will explain the important ‘ingredients’ used in planning for the end of our lives--including living wills, Durable Powers of Attorney (DPOAs), non-probate transfers and Transfer on Death Deeds (TODDs).
Shipp said that estate planning documents can provide clear instructions and peace of mind later in life, however care must be taken to avoid certain problems that can create big difficulties and “disaster.” Participants’ general questions will be addressed as part of the seminar. Those seeking more information will have opportunities to get personalized information at a later time.
Answers for Older Kansans events are available without cost, however, donations that support and expand services for older Kansans, people living with disabilities and their caregivers are welcomed. Contributions through PayPal are accepted at www.ncfhaaa.com.
Those seeking details on how to participate in Zoom technology will find information at www.ncfhaaa.com.
