A officer observed John Robison, IV, riding a bicycle on the sidewalk in the 100 block of N. Santa Fe Avenue at approximately 1:40 p.m. Monday, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. Robinson then rode into the southbound lane of N. Santa Fe Avenue and onto the sidewalk on the west side of the street.

The officer attempted to stop Robison, who then fled westbound through the tunnel on the south side of Ad Astra Books & Coffee House. Forrester said the officer then went south to W. Iron Avenue, where he observed Robison on foot in the alley.

As the officer attempted to arrest Robison in the alley behind Cozy Inn, Robison allegedly put something in the metal grate beneath him, Forrester said. Additionally, a witness reported seeing Robison throw something over a fence around a dumpster.

Forrester said the officer located a meth pipe by the dumpster and a plastic wrapper with suspected methamphetamine inside under the grate.

Robison was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.

●Possession of methamphetamine

●Possession of drug paraphernalia

●Interference with a law enforcement officer
