UPDATE: All warnings, advisories for our area have ended

UPDATE 5:15 p.m. Thursday: All winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories for our area have been canceled!

UPDATE 2 p.m. Thursday: The National Weather Service has dropped the winter storm warnings for Ellsworth, Lincoln, and Saline counties, and the winter weather advisory for Marion and McPherson counties.

UPDATE: 11:59 a.m. Thursday: The winter storm warning for Jewell and Mitchell counties has been canceled.

UPDATE 6 a.m. Thursday: The National Weather Service has moved Dickinson County to the winter storm warning list.

Slow down and use caution while traveling.  For road conditions, go to kandrive.org or call 5-1-1 or 1-866-511-KDOT (5368).  

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a winter storm warning in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday for Dickinson County.

Heavy snow, with additional snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches, expected.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

They replace the winter storm watches issued earlier.

Winter storm warnings

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a winter storm warning in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Cloud County

Ottawa County

Republic County

Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Winter weather advisories

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Lincoln County

Snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Additionally, wind chill values will fall to near zero by Thursday morning.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

McPherson County

Snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Additionally, wind chill values will fall to near zero by Thursday morning.
