OKLAHOMA CITY – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Golf finished 25th out of the 30 teams at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships on Tuesday at Rose Creek.
The Coyotes did not make the cut in the tournament. The NAIA trims the field to the top 17 teams and top 40 individuals after the second round.
Wesleyan carded a 321 in the opening round, and improved one shot to 320 in the second round. The Coyotes trailed Midway (Ky.) by a shot, and led Bellevue (Neb.) by three shots.
Hannah Hart (FR/Ventura, Calif.) led the Coyote finishers in a tie for 54th with a 155 for the tournament, putting together two rounds in the 70s (77-78). Kristen Sayyalinh (SO/Rockford, Ill.) tied for 75th at 157, Mikaela Johnson (SR/Salina, Kan.) tied for 122nd with a 164, Aidan Richmond (FR/Keller, Texas) tied for 143rd at 169, and Corey Mein (SO/Liberal, Kan.) tied for 147th with a 170.
William Carey's Nichakorn Prapsripoom leads the tournament in the individual standings with a 4-under 170. Campbellsville's Gracie Parrott is second at 141, and a 3-way tie for third at 142 between Serra Evrengil of Keiser, Taylor French of Taylor, and Gurman Knight from William Jessup round out the Top 5.
Keiser leads the tournament team standings after the second round with a 582. Keiser had a 12 shot lead over Taylor at 594, Oklahoma City is third at 597, Dalton State is fourth at 601 and SCAD-Savannah and Southeastern are tied for fifth at 602.
Kansas Wesleyan enjoyed many successes during the 2020-21 campaign. The Coyotes won eight tournaments during the season, including seven in a row. KWU claimed the KCAC Championship by 63 shots. Four Coyotes were named to the All-KCAC team, led by KCAC Individual Champion Hannah Hart. Sayyalinh was second, Richmond fifth and Johnson eighth.
