Salvation Army accepting applications for bell ringers

The Salvation Army in Salina has begun to accept applications for bell ringer positions.

Applications may be picked up at The Salvation Army, 1137 North Santa Fe Avenue.

The local bell-ringing season is scheduled to begin on Nov. 7 with kettle stands at the Central Mall, Hobby Lobby, and Big Lots. The remainder of the kettle sites -- Sam's Club, Walmart, Dillons, and Walgreens -- will be staffed beginning the day after Thanksgiving, according to Captain Lynn Lopez.

In addition to the kettles, each location will have a QR code that will allow smart phone users to make donations directly to the Salvation Army's website.

"By using this code we keep the money local for our community use," Lopez explained.

The Salina collection goal for this year's holiday season is $107,000, according to information provided by the Salvation Army.
