Cheryl Lynne Pritchard passed away on October 28, 2020 at the Medicalodges of Eudora. She was born August 8, 1944 to John and Mary Rosenquist Mounkes in Emporia, KS.
She attended Americus schools and graduated with the class of 1962. She attended Hays Hairdressing School in Mission, KS and became a licensed hairdresser in 1963. She worked as a cosmetologist until 1965.
Cheryl married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Pritchard, on November 27, 1964. They lived in Emporia, where they raised their daughter Tina, until Ron’s job with the BNSF was transferred to Kansas City. They then made their home in Tonganoxie.
Cheryl’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed traveling with Ron. After Ron’s retirement, they became snowbirds and spent the winters in Fort Meyers, FL every winter for the past 15 years. Cheryl was a member of the United Transportation Ladies Auxiliary for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers David and John Mounkes, sister Mary Weller and grandson Jeffrey P. Diekmann. Cheryl is survived by her husband Ron, and daughter Tina Diekmann and husband Jeffrey of Tonganoxie; grandchildren: Sarah Shaw (Patrick) and Jordan Diekmann, great-grandchild Rhett Shaw; sisters: Sandra Ross, Debra Hubert, and Patricia Davis; brothers Jimmy Mounkes and Richard Mounkes.
Cheryl will be remembered as a kind, loving and fun lady who loved life and was an encouragement to others. She will be sorely missed by her many friends and family.
A visitation will be held at 12:00pm, Wednesday, November 4th, at Sawyer Funeral Home with services following at 1:00. Interment will follow at Dunlap Cemetery. Masks are required.
