A Salina man was arrested on requested charges that included battery and aggravated assault after an alleged property dispute incident involving a hatchet.

Officers responded at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday to the report of a disturbance in the 100 block of S. 11th Street. When they arrived, they made contact with a 51-year-old Salina man who was limping and had a laceration on his left knee.

The man told police that he had been sitting on his porch when Maximilian Wilson, 35, of Salina, drove up, walked into the man's yard, and started yelling at him and trying to provoke a fight, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. When two other people pulled up, Wilson went back to his vehicle, allegedly retrieved a small hatchet, and then continued to try to provoke a fight, Forrester said.

The alleged victim eventually got off his porch and was standing in his driveway when Wilson allegedly drove his vehicle toward the man. Forrester said the man injured his knee when he jumped out of the way.

Wilson and the other two people left.

Officers then went to Wilson's residence in the 800 block of Charles Street. They also located the vehicle Wilson allegedly was driving, a Honda Element, Forrester said.

Officers were able to get Wilson to leave his residence and he was taken into custody. Forrester said Wilson was arrested on the following requested charges.

●Aggravated assault

●Felony interference with law enforcement

●Battery
