A teen was cited after a two-vehicle accident in central Salina Monday evening.
A 16-year-old Salina girl was westbound on E. Crawford Street in a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic when she failed to stop at the red light at the intersection with S. Santa Fe Avenue at approximately 7:15 p.m. Monday, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning.
The girl told police that she was attempting to turn off the vehicle's cruise control and when she looked up, noticed that the light was red, but did not have time to stop.
The Sonic collided with a southbound 1988 Oldsmobile 88 driven by Brendan Plante, 30, of Salina.
The girl suffered minor injuries, Forrester said.
The Sonic had damage to the passenger side and the Oldsmobile to the front end. Both were towed from the scene.
The girl was cited for no proof of insurance and failure to yield/stop at a stoplight, Forrester said.
