It was announced on Wednesday that the Southeast of Saline baseball team would be the top seed at this year’s Halstead regional, as the Trojan's quest for a ticket to state rolls on.

SES will face the winner of a play-in game between 1-19 Nickerson and 5-13 Smoky Valley as tournament play gets started on Monday,  May 16.

The Trojans enter this year’s regional at 16-4 overall, with wins already in hand against both Smoky Valley and Minneapolis, who enter as the eight and nine seeds respectively.

Other top contenders in the bracket include 16-4 Haven, 11-7 Hillsboro, and 12-8 Halstead, who will play 10-8 Hesston for a potential semifinal matchup with the Trojans.

Despite being a mainstay in the regional finals, the Trojans will be looking to make some history next week as they look to punch their first ticket to the state tournament since 2003.
