Della Mae Dirks, 86, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. She was born February 29, 1936, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Henry F. and Bertha (Buller) Neufeld.
Della graduated from Buhler High School and later attended Bethel College in Newton for one year.
She married her high school sweetheart, Leon Keith Dirks, on September 30, 1956. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage together. To this union two sons were born, Daniel Leon and Toby K.
Della was a member of Buhler Mennonite Church, where she was active in the sewing circle. She loved music and was choir director and played piano at the church. Della was very talented and creative and enjoyed crocheting and wheat weaving.
Della and Keith loved traveling together and especially enjoyed their time in La Veta and Cuchara, Colorado.
Della is survived by her two sons, Dan and wife, Nicole, Dirks and Toby Dirks; granddaughter Tiffany and husband, Nic, Miller; grandson Justin and wife, Jessie, Dirks; great-grandchildren Carson and Coen Miller, and Quinn and Greyson Dirks; and sister Sue Regier.
Della’s family thanks Buhler Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community for all the great care and genuine love given to our parents.
Cremation is planned. Services are pending and will be announced later by Buhler Mortuary.
