KWU men's tennis drops season opener to Creighton

Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis faced NCAA Division I Creighton on Friday night at Genesis Health Club in its 2022 opener and lost to the Bluejays 7-0.

In doubles action, Creighton would win the doubles point, sweeping the three matches. Casey Ross and Matthew Lanahan beat Alex Sherer (FR/Rossville, Kan.) and Bryce Ware (FR/Amarillo, Texas) at No. 1 doubles 6-2, Jose Oscar Diaz and Stratton Brown beat Daniel Harkin (FR/Manhattan, Kan.) and Garrison Wright (FR/Maize, Kan.) 6-3 at No. 2 doubles and Shin Inoue and Zack Maline beat Wes Robertson (SO/Edmond, Okla.) and Rodrigo Vera (SR/Lima, Peru) 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Ross beat Harkin at No. 1 6-1, 6-2; Salina native Stratton Brown beat Bryce Ware 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2; Inoue beat Sherer 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3; Lanahan beat Wright 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4; Diaz beat Vera 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5; and Neal beat Robertson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.

The Coyotes will return to action on March 4 against Texas A&M-Texarkana at 10 a.m. at Salina Central HS.
